The Allegan Conservation District is able to provide technical assistance, identification, and control of small populations of non-native terrestrial invasive species via the Invasive Species Strike Team. Cost share funding may be available to landowners for treating infestations of select unwanted terrestrial species through the West Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (WMCISMA) program. All services are funded through WMCISMA.
The Invasive Species Team will be treating category “A” species covered by WMCISMA funding, which include:
- Black and pale swallow-wort
- Giant hogweed
- Giant and Japanese Knotweed
- Leafy spurge
- Poison hemlock
- Phragmites australis
We encourage landowners to contact us to assist in identifying and controlling unwanted invasive species. If interested in having the Invasive Species Team perform a FREE site, please contact us!
