The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) had a program rollout for 2013, including specifics on EQIP funding. It included a focused conversation on what the Farm Bill and NRCS programs looks like now. It is still possible that a new Farm Bill will be created in the near future but for now, we are working under what is funded today.
Some Programs are still funded
Some aspects of the Farm Bill have lost funding such as the Wetland Reserve Program (WRP). That doesn’t mean there is less reason to apply for Farm Bill Programs this year. The Allegan NRCS office is buzzing with application processing right now. The Current deadline to have applications in for Farm Bill programs is January 17th, 2013.
Additionally, the uncertainty concerning the Farm Bill is not the reason to forget about contacting the NRCS. Completing an application is a process that can be started anytime. It begins with an “Initial Site Visit” and goes from there.
